The Kenyan community in Canada is celebrating a moment of pride and recognition following the honour bestowed upon Constable Idris Maloba by Ottawa Police Service.

Maloba was recognised with a prestigious award for promoting equity, diversity and Inclusion, acknowledging his outstanding service and unwavering commitment to community building.

Maloba, who joined the Ottawa Police Service in 2020, has distinguished himself through his dedication to fostering inclusive communities and supporting vulnerable populations. His work reflects a deep understanding of the importance of equity, engagement and trust in policing, values that continue to strengthen relationships across diverse communities.

Prior to his policing career, he served as a social worker with the Youth Services Bureau, where he supported youth facing complex social challenges.

His longstanding commitment to service has remained central to his work, both in uniform and within broader community initiatives.

Beyond his role in Canada, Maloba has also made meaningful contributions internationally through his involvement with Project Chance Africa, an initiative focused on youth development in underserved communities.

His efforts have helped create opportunities and safe recreational spaces for young people, reinforcing his dedication to empowering future generations.
