A man accused of stabbing a friend he met on Facebook has denied the charge in court.

Ayebale Nyakana Arthur has been charged with causing grievous harm to Silus Mwamutisi Mwangawe.

The attack took place on April 16 at Uthiru in Dagoretti subcounty, Nairobi county.

The accused is said to have accosted the complainant over a lost phone and passport and allegedly stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife.

Detectives said the accused person and the victim met on Facebook.

They later met physically and their relationship grew as they shared "a common thing", police said.

Prior to their moving in together, they would meet once in a while.

Sometimes the victim would spend the night at the accused’s house, detectives said.

The victim later moved in with the accused after he lost his job and was unable to pay his bills and rent.

That was three weeks ago.

Ayebale denied the charge and pleaded for a lenient bond term.

Kibera senior principal magistrate Monica Maroro released him on Sh1 million bond or Sh500,000 bail.

The case will be mentioned later this month for pre-trial.
