Police are investigating an incident where a woman's body was found in a house that had been set on fire in Kayole, Nairobi.

The suspect, Ambrose Karugu, is on the run.

Karugu is said to be a  matatu driver plying the Mwiki-CBD route.

The woman had been missing for three days until Wednesday evening when neighbours saw smoke coming from the house and called police officers.

Police said they found her body on the bed with blood oozing from the mouth and ears.

They suspect the driver started the fire and ran away.

Nairobi police boss James Mugera said they are looking for Karugu for questioning.

He said neighbours told them the deceased and the suspect have been cohabiting and always quarrelled.

“The woman had not been seen until we received a report of a house in fire and we found her body,” Mugera said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and identification.

Elsewhere, a team of detectives in Chumvi along Mombasa Highway in Machakos, are investigating an incident where a gang raided a home and killed a nanny.

The house girl was alone in the house when the gang strangled her before escaping with household goods.

Police said the homeowners had left the woman alone in the house during the Wednesday afternoon incident.

A hunt is ongoing.
