A woman who allegedly sneaked into the house of another woman and beat her over 'husband snatching' claims has been charged with assault at a Kibera court.

Celestine Odipo was charged with assaulting Rose Odhiambo causing her bodily harm on May 30, in Lindi.

It is alleged that Odipo waited for Odhiambo in her house before she assaulted her on arrival.

According to the prosecution, the complainant arrived home and found the door open.

She initially thought that her children had come back home from school, only to find the accused person allegedly sitting on her bed.

The prosecution said that the accused person asked the complainant whether she "stole" her husband before stabbing her left side of the neck.

The complainant reported the matter to the police moments after seeking treatment at a city hospital.

The woman denied the charges and was granted Sh20,000 cash bail.

Magistrate Monica Maroro directed that the case be mentioned early next month for a pre-trial.

The court directed that the accused person be supplied with witness statements and documentary evidence.
