Meat traders in Nakuru have raised concerns about the hygiene of using common brown paper to wrap meat — instead of plastic.
This follows the ban on plastic bags, which took effect yesterday. The traders said the unsanitary papers might be a health hazard to the public, when they come into direct contact with the meat.
“We call on the Public Health department to offer guidelines on the quality of papers to be used for wrapping meat,” butcher Peter Kamau said.
