Senior National Social Security Fund managers were last week interrogated by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detectives over alleged fraud in the Sh5 billion Tassia II Scheme.
NSSF finance and investment general manager Gideon Kyengo was among those summoned to Integrity Centre.
They are accused of irregularly approving the budget and awarding the tender to China Jiangxi International Kenya Ltd.
Others implicated are property development manager Mutemi Nzatu and suspended managing trustee Richard Langat.
EACC is investigating Langat over the design, supply, installation and commissioning of electronic security, CCTV and a restricted area control system.
The NSSF case is among 175 cases contained in the EACC corruption dossier presented to Parliament by President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 20.
Meanwhile, a report on the investigation into the transfer of Integrity Centre from the Deposit Protection Fund, which was to be released in April, is yet to be handed over.
EACC has been investigating the role of suspended deputy CEO Michael Mubea in the sale of the building and negotiations with Anglo Leasing suspects.
According to documents the Star has, the Investigations Committee appointed by suspended EACC chairman Mumo Matemu comprises the commission’s head of security, a nominee from the Legal Services directorate, an investigator from the Commission on Administrative Justice and a representative from the CID.
“The committee’s primary responsibility is to conduct investigations into the allegations against Mubea and determine their veracity and make recommendations,” the committee’s terms of reference say.
The committee is tasked with investigating and submitting a report on Integrity Centre, especially how the debt attached to the building was cleared and if any EACC staffer was involved in discharging the property irregularly.
The committee will seek to find out if there was forgery or uttering of a false document in the process and how the property was transferred to the current owner.
