Police dies while visiting fiancé in Kitui, probe launched

A policewoman who lost her life while visiting her fiancee, died of natural causes that are still being investigated, Tseikuru subcounty police commander in Kitui county, Ezekiel Kiche said on Sunday.

“We will know exactly what the policewoman was suffering from once the postmortem is conducted. I cannot disclose more details at the moment,” Kiche said on the phone on Sunday morning.

A police report filed at Tseikuru indicates that the deceased officer was a constable and a drill instructor and she had visited her fiancee at Kaningo village in Tseikuru when the tragedy struck.

The deceased arrived at the Kaningo home of his fiancee, a fellow police constable on January 27.

The report further said her fiance reported the deceased started complaining of severe headaches and began vomiting when she arrived at his place

The following day she was taken to a Mumoni Nursing Home in Tseikuru township where she was treated and discharged.

However, on February 1, her illness recurred and she was taken back to the health facility where she was treated and discharged again.

The police report further reveals that on the following day, her situation worsened and she was taken back to the nursing home where she passed away while undergoing treatment.

The body was moved to the Kyuso Level IV hospital as the area directorate of criminal investigation continued with investigations.
