Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has said she is considering joining President William Ruto's UDA party.

Mwangaza who was elected on an independent ticket trounced UDA'S Mithika Linturi and Azimio's Kiraitu Murungi in the Meru governor polls.

On Friday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asked the Meru governor to join the party since they had supported her when she had a fallout with MCAs.

Gachagua spoke when he addressed the Solution Sacco members during their 30th anniversary at Kinoru stadium.

He said she was committed to bringing peace to Meru County by ensuring the fallout between MCAs and the county boss was addressed.

"We have told the governor to stop working alone and join us (UDA). We are ready to embrace and work with you," Gachagua said.

Earlier, Mwangaza had remained skeptical about joining popular parties.

During the campaigns last year, she said she almost lost the woman representative seat in 2017 because of aligning herself with big parties.

But after Gachagua's appeal, she seemed to be warming up to UDA.

"The president asked my people if I should join UDA and they agreed. That is why I have donned a yellow dress to show that I am considering the request," she said.

Mwangaza spoke over the weekend at Kaaga primary school, North Imenti constituency in Meru County.
