Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has dismissed claims that there is a falling out between her and Deputy Governor Mutuma M'ethingia.

Mwangaza has said she will not allow her political rivals to distract her from delivering development projects to the people of Meru.

"If I concentrate on attacking my critics I will be diverted from working for the people of Meru," Mwangaza said.

The governor spoke on Tuesday while launching the Mwangaza Healthcare programme for the elderly under the NHIF plan at Kinoru Stadium. The governor issued insurance cards worth Sh1.8 million.

"I have heard that me and my deputy governor are not talking. Let me set the record straight that is just gossip and falsehood, there is no fallout," she said.

There are claims that the alleged fallout led to the withdrawal of the deputy governor's vehicle and the cancellation of his trip to the USA, sentiments that Mwangaza also dismissed.

Mwangaza said only God will deal with the people who are attacking her for no good reason.

"I want to work for the people of Meru like the Biblical Nehemiah and built the wall of Jerusalem," Mwangaza said.

On Saturday last week, some ward reps wagged war against Mwangaza in a function attended by Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi and Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri.

The leaders also are calling for the splitting of Meru County into two—Nyambene and Imenti.
