Hundreds of women in Meru have demonstrated following remarks made by Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi about Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Maendeleo ya wanawake chairperson Kanana Nteere said Aburi's remarks are demeaning Mwangaza.

On Saturday, Aburi had faulted Mwangaza's leadership.

He claimed he will use Kibiri ( a wooden stick used to stir porridge) on Mwangaza.

Aburi said he will use Kibiri to mix all of those allied to Mwangaza.

"Let me show you what I will do to them, I will mix them like this," Aburi said as he held the wooden stick.

It is on these remarks that women demonstrated.

"The remarks by Aburi are promoting Gender Based Violence against women," Nteere said.

Nteere said Aburi should be summoned by Njuri Ncheke to be taught to respect women and especially mothers.

Rosemary Ngaku from South Imenti constituency said that Aburi should leave Mwangaza alone so that she can deliver his development agenda.

Zainab Kendi from Mjini, North Imenti constituency alleged that Aburi is only good at opposing governors.

"He opposed former governors. Meru should ask themselves why he has been doing this," Kendi claimed.
