President Uhuru Kenyatta is among leaders who have eulogised Senior Ssistant Inspector General of Police Charton Murithi as a reformist.

Energy PS Gordon Kihalangwa, who read President Kenyatta’s tribute,  said the nation had lost a patriot, a hero and powerful officer.

The President also eulogised Murithi for playing a pivotal role in the recently established Department of Regional Small Arms and Light Weapons where he was appointed as the coordinator.

Mourners present, including senior police officers, described Murithi as a man of strong stand, articulate in his service delivery and always served all in equity.

Meru Senator-elect said the departed officer was a development-oriented person who made several strides in uplifting education standards within the community.

“Murithi was a cool gentleman, charismatic and a role model to many. Meru county has lost a high ranking gallant officer in the National Police Service. Death is cruel. It picks the very best from us,” Kathuri said.

Murithi was applauded as a great career soldier who rose to the rank of senior assistant Deputy IG that led to him receiving various state commendations.

The officer's mother Abishag Murugi in her tribute said she loved her son so much and, as a family, they are happy that even the public loved him.

The former commissioner of police Mathew Itere challenged police offcers to go back to their villages and uplift their former institutions just as Murithi did in his village, where he was highly respected and led in development projects.

Deputy Inspector General Of Police Edward Mbugua also relayed condolences on behalf of Inspector General Hilary Mutyambai who is currently hospitalised.

Murithi was buried at his village in Kithurine in Imenti South constituency, Meru county.
