Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he will commission Enziu bridge as chief minister after the August polls.
"I have toured the bridge and the ongoing construction work is set to take 12 months. Once completed, I will commission it as Kenya’s chief minister," he said.
Kalonzo spoke on Monday during an Azimio La Umoja rally at Nguni market, Mwingi East.
The Azimio delegation toured the bridge that was launched on January 24.
Construction of the Sh570 million bridge started barely two months after a tragic accident that saw 33 people lose their lives.
A bus they were travelling in plunged into the river killing them on spot.
Kalonzo urged residents to vote for Raila Odinga as the fifth president as they will benefit from free healthcare dubbed Baba Care.
"Apart from free education, Raila will ensure there is free healthcare. We understand most hospitals in Kitui county have been closed for lack of drugs. We do not want Kenyans to sell property in order to access healthcare," he said .
Julius Ole Sunkuli who had accompanied Kalonzo told the contractor to hasten the process and complete it in the required time.
He also urged residents to elect Raila for Kalonzo to become chief minister.
Other leaders present were Kitui Senator Kiio Wambua, Kitui MP Irene Kasalu, Wiper governor candidate Julius Malombe and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi.
