Mark Kirwa,30, will be the Jubilee Party flag bearer and will take on Senator Samson Cherargei in the August 9 general election.
Kirwa was cleared by Nandi returning officer Silas Rorich at the Bishop Muge Memorial CITC in Kapsabet.
The candidate remains upbeat that he will win, despite contesting for a seat in a perceived Kenya Kwanza-dominated region.
Cherargei of UDA was cleared on Sunday at the same venue.
Kirwa said he faces several hurdles, among them cash to hire vehicles to campaign.
“Now that I have been cleared and I am officially the Jubilee candidate, I appeal to my party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, to support my campaigns,” Kirwa said.
Unlike other aspirants, Kirwa and his team of proposers and seconders arrived at the IEBC offices unnoticed.
There were no supporters ferried to cheer him nor vehicles and general funfair as witnessed from other candidates.
“I am just a simple and true Kenyan patriot, but I know my party will support me as we move forward,” he said.
Kirwa banks on the youth vote and disgruntled supporters of Emgwen MP Alex Kosgey, who lost to Cherargei in the UDA nominations.
Cherargei did not campaign, neither did he hire agents nor distributed his campaign posters but successfully defended his position against Kosgey.
The majority of those who lost in the UDA nominations resigned from the party and are now independent candidates.
They include Nandi Woman representative Tecla Tum, who will vie for Emgwen MP seat against UDA nominee Josses Lelmengit, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, who will defend his seat after UDA preferred his runners up Benard Kitur.
Aldai MP Cornely Serem also resigned from the party and will face UDA nominee Maryanne Kitany, a former chief of staff at the DP’s office.
In Mosop, MP Vincet Tuwei is also defending his seat on an independent ticket against UDA’s Abraham Kirwa.
The aspirants have claimed they were unfairly rigged out of UDA by political operatives in the North Rift and have declared war against the party.
