Former Devolution CS Charles Keter had a rough time addressing residents of his county on Tuesday after rowdy youth chanted him down.
The crowd that was in support of his rival heckled him as they declared their support for the opponent.
In his attempt to address the crowd, residents responded: “Dr Mutai kityo...Mutai, Mutai kityo" to mean "It is Dr Mutai we want only".
Eric Mutai is one of Keter's opponents in the governor seat race in Kericho county.
Keter resigned as a devolution CS in February to focus on his bid to become the second Kericho Governor.
Anger against Charles Keter in Kericho. Residents are visibly angry and tired, they can't hide anymore. They have told Charles Keter that the only seat he will get in Kericho County is the seat he will be sitting on at the main Tallying center as he awaits to be declared a loser pic.twitter.com/lHAyvmORhR

He is vying under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Before being appointed as a CS, Keter was serving as the Senator of Kericho County. He resigned in 2015 to join the cabinet.
While resigning as CS, he declared that he will hit the ground to campaign for his governor bid.
"I am resigning from my office in government to focus my energy on contesting for the seat of the county of Kericho," he told a press conference at Treasury buildings.
Keter was the first CS in President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet to endorse deputy president William Ruto for the presidency
“I will stick with him forever until he becomes the President of this country…go and tell that to the rumour mongers who have been claiming that I’m not in UDA,” Keter said.
