Burning tires lit by riders along Meru-Maua Road at Muriri market over Sh600, 000 DP Ruto's donation

Tigania East MP Gichunge Kabeabea’s office has denied receiving Sh600, 000 meant for boda boda riders and 'Mama Mbogas' from Deputy President William Ruto.

The money is said to have 'vanished into thin air' immediately after the DP announced the donation at Muriri market during his Meru rallies.

During the rallies, DP Ruto allegedly donated Sh14million.

Some of the riders who were arrested on November 17 for participating in protests over the Sh600, 000 are out on cash bail that was paid for by politician Tarsila Kagwiria.

Lawrence Mutwiri, the MP’s CDF manager urged the involved parties to be patient.

“Such Propaganda won’t help anybody. We are aware of politicians organizing those demos to tarnish the DP and our MP. Stop damaging and tarnishing others with unverified propaganda for political mileage.,” Mutwiri said.

The Mama Mboga chair Mwenda Harriet of Muriri Market expressed her gratitude to Kagwiria but urged Ruto to stop causing infighting among people after his rallies.

Mutwiri said the MP will follow up on the matter.

"I urge our Deputy President to be keen on those who receive the money from him. He should give the money to responsible leaders,” Mutwiri said.

Muriri OCS Nehemiah Ogelo urged residents not to protest without a prior permit from the police to avoid inconveniencing road users.
