Kitui residents will reject the BBI report if it does not recommend the carving out of Mwingi county from the expansive devolved unit, Senator Enoch Wambua has warned.

“BBI was not drafted for Raila Odinga. Residents ought to participate in amending the document in order to ensure their needs are included in the report,” Wambua said.

The senator said the creation of Mwingi county was among key proposals Kitui residents made to the BBI task force and there was no way they would accept the report if their wishes were not factored in.

He spoke during a visit of Nguuku location by the Senate ICT Committee.

He at the same time said that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will be on the presidential ballot in 2022 irrespective of the BBI outcome.

His views were echoed by Mwingi North MP Paul Nzengu, who said the BBI report must not be forced on Kenyans without necessary amendments.

Laikipia Senator Nderitu Kinywa said all divergent issues must be included in BBI.

According to him, the report shouldn’t be sugarcoated to lure innocent Kenyans as anything harmful in it would be dangerous to all.
