Former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti Speaking at Ganduru Village in Mbeere South Subcounty on Monday.

Ex-Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti has said America's support for Kenya's anti-graft war will enhance President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts.

Kivuti spoke on Monday at Ganduru Village in Gikiiro sublocation at a public meeting, He thanked the US and foreign partners for helping to fight corruption.

"I support America which says that if you are corrupt you cannot set foot in their country [and you cannot pay for] your children's study there. Corruption is a virus which if not completely uprooted ensures nothing works," he said.

He was reacting to a statement last week by new US Ambassador Kyle McCarter who said corrupt people would be banned and would not be allowed to pay for their children's schooling in the US.

McCarter said the ‘big fish’ get away with theft of billions whereas the common mwananchi is brutally punished for the theft of small amounts of money.

Kivuti praised the government’s support of the DCI and the EACC, giving them the freedom to work. He said they appear to be overwhelmed and need additional officers.

Kivuti has attended meetings including the launching of Kiambere Community-based Organization at Mutuavare Saturday and the opening of St Phillip Ganduru Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) on Sunday.

He lost the gubernatorial race to Embu Governor Martin Wambora and urged residents to support Wambora in his last term.

Kivuti said he hoped to become the next governor in 2022 and to revolutionise the county in development.

He said most of the ward representatives in Manyatta were supporting him, about half of those from Runyenjes was also with him and that all from Mbeere North and South also supported him.
