The family said Avicii left a suicide note behind saying that he could not go on with life.

In the past, he suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking.

The family said : "Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions."

"When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer," the family said.

Avicii, rose to fame with his song levels in 2011 and later on in 2013 with Wake me up and Hey brother.

He retired from touring in 2016 on grounds that the demands of the DJ lifestyle were too much.

Before quitting he had his gallbladder and appendix removed.
