Crime scene

Residents of a village in Kinangop are trying to come to terms with an incident in which a man went berserk and killed his daughter using a machete.

The man left the wife in critical condition after slashing her with a panga during the weekend incident before taking his life using a rope.

Hours later elsewhere, a 19-year-old girl murdered a four-year-old girl in Nyondia village in Naivasha before police came to her rescue as members of the public attempted to lynch her.

In the first incident, a domestic row in Munyaka village in Kinangop ended tragically after a man turned against his estranged wife slashing her with a panga, leaving her for dead.

According to Njabini OCPD Peter Nzimbi, the man turned against his 17-year-old daughter who walked in during the attack, slashing her to death using the machete.

Nzimbi said the daughter was returning home after escorting her two siblings to school when he found the father attacking the mother.

He added that after the attack, the man reportedly hanged himself as the wife who was seriously injured was taken to hospital.

“The couple had fallen out forcing the woman to relocate to Munyaka centre where the man caught up with her slashing her with a machete before killing the daughter,” the police boss said.

Meanwhile in Naivasha, police are holding a teenager who wooed a neighbour’s girl and strangled her before dumping her in a quarry.

During the incident, irate members of the public descended on the family’s house demolishing it before police rescued the suspect and the mother.

This came amid allegations that the teenager had in the past tried to strangle another minor who was rescued and the case resolved between the families.

According to Naivasha OCPD Stephen Kirui, the teenager and the mother had recorded statements as part of their investigations while the body had been collected.

He said the body of the minor was found in a flooded section of the quarry where the suspect was last seen heading with the victim.

“We are still investigating the motive behind this bizarre murder and the suspect will definitely be charged in court with murder,” he said.
