Interviews revealed that in most cases, only mothers who had normal deliveries shared beds.

In a report by Auditor General, interviews revealed that in most cases, only mothers who had normal deliveries shared beds.

However, there were instances of mothers with caesarian section deliveries sharing beds in Mbagathi County Hospital and Bungoma County Referral Hospital.

Further, whereas most hospitals had two mothers sharing beds, two health facilities in Bungoma and Nairobi Counties had up to three patients sharing one bed.

In these instances, some mothers were forced to sleep on mattresses laid on the floor or sit on plastic seats.
