In Kwale town stands the new two-storey white and maroon county assembly building.
At the front of the building is a huge pyramid, which gives it a unique shape resembling the letter W, and a pentagon form on the rear.
Residents and visitors have praised it as an architectural masterpiece because of its uniqueness.
It is among the few public storey buildings in Kwale town.
The area has witnessed an increase in development since the commencement of devolution, ending the long error of the sleepy Kwale town that craved growth and innovation.
The county assembly building is located between the county headquarters and the newly constructed Kwale High Court.
The five-storey Kwale headquarters is the only facility in the area with elevators.
The Kwale assembly has received many positive remarks from visitors and national leaders who visit the place for benchmarking.
The building, which has been under construction for almost seven years, is about 95 per cent complete.
It contains more than 100 offices for each MCA and county assembly staff. It also has well-decorated county chambers.
The facility also has a spacious lounge, parking lot, prayer halls and lactating rooms for breastfeeding staff and visitors to attend to their babies while in the building.
The new assembly has not been officially opened but services are ongoing. President William Ruto is expected to launch it this year.
Acting county assembly clerk Fatuma Hassan Mwalupa said the old facility was too small and impeded effective service delivery.
"Staff had to share offices with the MCAs while others were forced to work while standing," she said.
Mwalupa said the facility has boosted the morale of workers and promoted privacy.
The offices are fitted with air conditioners saving staff and residents seeking services from the wrath of the hot temperatures in the coastal town.
Mwalupa said the facility has also enhanced security as it is installed with biometric fingerprints, door access control systems and CCTV.
She said it has helped deal with laziness and absenteeism as all staff must have their biometrics captured in the morning and signed out in the evening.
"All staff must first sign in before entering and sign out while leaving the facility. Latecomers and absentees can easily be identified," she said.
Mwalupa said the structure is proof that the county making progressing and is on course in embracing technology to improve productivity.
The clerk said the facility has also brought together various services under one roof.
Mwalupa said the contractor is making the final touches before handing it over to the county.
County Assemblies Forum chairperson Kiplagat Sabulei said the building is a game changer for service delivery in Kwale.
He said its modern and unique design corresponds to the funds spent on it.
The Elgeyo Marakwet county speaker said the magnificent structure is a clear indicator of the benefits of devolution.
"The devolution has really worked for us who thought that Kwale will have such beautiful buildings and I believe more are coming," he said.
