Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has dared Siaya Senator James Orengo to table the motion on the impeachment of Deputy President William Ruto in Parliament "if he is man enough".

Mbogo said the DP has "soldiers" in Parliament and no impeachment motion will be passed.

Orengo has threatened to impeach Ruto through Parliament, but the DP's allies have come out guns blazing. “Who are you to impeach Ruto? What has he done for him to be impeached? Orengo, let us stop these stories with no foundation,” Mbogo said on Sunday.

“Bring that motion to Parliament and see how it goes. You will know that that House has its owners. It has men,” he said.

He spoke at Kadzandani in Nyali constituency during the issuance of mother title for plot number 259.  The plot is 28.2 in acreage. Over 500 families will benefit.

Mbogo, who has steadily been warming his way into Ruto’s inner circle, is viewed as the DP’s point man in Mombasa.

He and Nyali MP Mohammed Ali say Ruto is unfairly targeted in the war against corruption.

Kisauni, with a population of 300,000, has a special interest to a presidential aspirant. To Mbogo, Ruto has done more than Orengo did for Kisauni, Nyali and Coast residents when he was Lands minister in 2007.

Ruto is using the land question to endear himself to coast people.

Majaoni residents in Kisauni and Kadzandani residents in Nyali have reason to support Ruto, according to Mbogo, who also disclosed that they have devised a new strategy to woo supporters. The strategy is about working for residents before asking for their votes.

“We will not ask you to give us votes. We will work for you first, then you will owe us. Not us owing you,” said Mbogo.

He said Ruto has helped over 10,000 residents in Kisauni, Msambweni and Kilifi South to get title deeds.

Mid last year, Ruto issued 3,000 titles to squatters on 444 acres in Majaoni.

Mbogo said the person being vilified has done a lot for Coast residents.

“The one you call names is the one helping you - people of Kisauni and Coast. That is why even if I am the last person, I will give him my vote for the presidency. Akufaaye Kwa dhiki ndiye rafiki (a friend in need is a friend indeed). You must remember that always,” he said.

The praised Ruto as the only person who is solving the squatter question at the Coast. “Let us not blame the government. Let us blame our own leaders,” he said.

“If Ruto helps us get our land back in Kisauni and Nyali, is there any reason to deny him our support?” he asked and warned Coast residents against voting blindly.

He said Governor Hassan Joho was the Kisauni MP at the time Orengo was Lands minister but "they had no intention of helping you. This time the problem has found its healer.”
