Sorrow engulfed the faces of mourners who had attended the burial of a teacher who was stabbed to death by an unknown person at her home in Kwambira village in Limuru constituency in Kiambu county.

Area sub-county police commander Phillip Mwania said no one has been arrested in connection with the murder of Irene Ng'endo.

Until her mysterious death, Ng'endo was a teacher at Thigio Primary School in Ndeiya ward.

Tears flowed freely from close relatives' eyes as speakers eulogised her as humble, respectable and hardworking.

Led by Kenya National Union of Teachers Kiambu West branch secretary Michael Muna, teachers said they had lost a dedicated colleague.

Muna asked the Teachers Service Commission to deploy a teacher at Thigio Primary since learners were feeling a gap.

"Losing a teacher is disturbing not only to teaching fraternity but to the society as a whole," Muna said.

"In this regard, the subjects she was handling need to be handled properly in her respect and we are appealing to TSC to send a teacher to the institution" he added.

Limuru MP John Kiragu asked the police to speed up their investigations to apprehend the murderer.

Kiragu however, said he will not rest until justice is done to Ng'endo.

"We believe the police have what it takes to investigate. The family is ready to share information they may have. We need them to do it and establish what was happening and who did that," the legislator said.

Ng'endo was attacked on February 10, this year by an unknown person who stabbed her using a blunt object.

Mwania said the police did not recover the object that was used, and they suspected the attacker carried it away to conceal key information that could lead to arrest.

A family member Njenga Murugami says no one else was at home when the teacher was attacked.

The deceased started screaming for help when the attacker left.

"The people who responded found Ng'endo at the door floor while trying to struggle to walk outside looking for help," he said.

"They quickly looked for a vehicle and rushed her to Tigoni hospital, where she was pronounced dead," Murugami, who was Limuru central ward MCA said.
