President William Ruto has called upon leaders in Kiambu County to set aside political differences and focus on driving development initiatives forward.

Expressing his intention to convene discussions with them, he emphasized the importance of unity in serving the best interests of the residents.

Ruto said it was wrong and shameful for some of them to ferry youths from all corners using vehicles so that they heckle and boo their fellow leaders.

The head of state urged them to sober up and take advantage of leaders when they visit the area to lobby for developments.

“Let us work as a team and stop 2027 politics. It is the people who chose us that will benefit from all these projects we are initiating here,” he said.

“We shall have sitting with your leaders and we organise ourselves,” he told Lari constituency residents.

Ruto's sentiments was after a group of youths started heckling and booing different leaders when they addressed them on Wednesday.

He had visited Lari to commission the construction of a section of Mau Mau road and the construction of Soko Biashara market.

He was accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, Senator Karungo Thang’wa, Woman Representative Ann Muratha and Lari MP Mburu Kahangara.

MP’s Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete), Njuguna Wanjiku (Kiambaa), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika) and leader of the majority Kimani Ichung’wa who is also Kikuyu legislator were also present.

Thang’wa urged leaders not to fear being heckled if they are speaking the truth.

“We will not fear to tell our electorates where we feel there is a problem,” Thang’wa said.

However, Thang’wa applauded Ruto for commissioning the road saying it would open Nyambari, Gitithia, Escarpment, Mabuini and Kijabe villages where it will pass.

“The road starts at the Nairobi Nakuru highway and ends at Maai Mahiu town. It will create job opportunities, ease transportation and ease trade as well as promote tourism,” he said.

Kahangara said the Sh150 million Economic Stimulus Project market commissioned by the President will have great impact to traders at Soko Biashara.

The legislator said traders had a history of being hit by vehicles while crossing the road, being rained on since the market operates at the roadside.
