A middle-aged man who is alleged to have been defiling his 16-year-old stepdaughter will be locked at a police station as police finalise their investigations, a Limuru law court ruled.
Constable Immaculate Lang’at, a police officer investigating the case, said they had not completed recording statements and collecting evidence.
She told senior principal magistrate Jared Magoli that the victim had given birth to a child on November 3, 2023.
Lang’at added that the case was reported by the complainant who was this year’s KCPE candidate after her head teacher realised that she was expectant.
The investigating officer told the magistrate that the accused was living with her brothers, sisters and stepfather since her mother was working outside the country.
Lang’at told the court that the suspect had been defiling his stepdaughter on diverse dates between February 1 and October 24, 2023.
She asked Magistrate Magoli to allow them to hold him for 7 days as they finalise their investigations.
The suspect caused laughter in the courtroom when he was asked by the magistrate if he had any objection only for him to ask the police not to waste time but to hasten their probe.
The magistrate accepted the police request and held him for 7 days.
