A section of Mount Kenya leaders has told the region's politicians to respect former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Led by Mike Makarina and Kariuki Kiruga, they said they are saddened by some politicians who have been disrespecting the former President.

The leaders said its wrong for Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'waH and other Kenya Kwanza leaders to call for the arrest of Uhuru.

The two leaders have in the past accused Uhuru of sponsoring the protests led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

They accused Ichung'wah and Nyoro of orchestrating disunity in the region instead of unity.

They said President Uhuru's proposal of one man, one vote one shilling where there could be equal distribution of resources was lost because of petty politics.

ā€œIā€™m urging Mount Kenya people to stand in solidarity and defend one of their own. Why are we being told to insult our kingpin whilst other communities heap loads of respect on their leaders? We are urging his excellency the President to embrace dialogue in a bid to save our country from chaos and disorder,ā€ Makarina said.

Makarina also decried taxing the persons with disabilities and exclusion from the list of Cabinet Administrative Secretaries that were sworn into office on Thursday
