The National Government Constituency Development Fund Board yesterday asked the Council of Governors to stop interfering with the kitty. Board chairman Elias Mbau accused governors of fighting to take over the CDF kitty, which he said has done well in the country since its inception.

Mbau told county governments to first spend the more than 30 per cent allocation from the national government before demanding 2.5 per cent allocated to CDF.

He was speaking during the launch of the first public awareness and sensitisation workshop in Malindi town. Mbau said the Council of Governors is interfering with the progress and distribution of CDF.

He said governors have led a legal battle to see the fund scrapped off.

“The Council of Governors should first show accountability with the funds allocated to them by the national government, instead of pushing to get the CDF,” Mbau said.
