Inauguration ceremony of Kenya Buildcon International 2025
Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering small businesses, cooperatives, and local manufacturers through trade and investment, as the International Trade Expo 2025 officially opened on Thursday at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi.
The event, hosted by the Rajasthan Association of Kenya, brings together local and international exhibitors with a focus on innovation, technology transfer, and inclusive economic growth.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe Oparanya emphasized the expo’s significance in advancing Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
“The Government of Kenya views such expos as critical drivers of industrial growth, technology transfer, and new investment—especially for MSMEs, cooperatives, and local manufacturers under the BETA agenda,” said Oparanya.
A standout feature of the event is Buildcon, a platform designed to spark innovation and accelerate investment in Kenya’s construction, housing, and infrastructure sectors.
Positioned as a hub for collaboration among industry players, policymakers, and innovators, Buildcon aims to ensure that small and medium enterprises have a strong stake in the country’s development.
“Kenya is at a pivotal moment in its development journey,” said Oparanya.
“Platforms like Buildcon bridge gaps and foster innovation while giving SMEs real opportunity in the ongoing construction boom.”
Another key highlight is the Kenya Wood Expo, celebrating the country's craftsmanship in furniture, woodwork, and interior design.
The segment has drawn widespread interest, showcasing how Kenyan artisans are fusing tradition with modern aesthetics to produce eco-conscious and locally inspired products.
“The creativity and talent on display here show just how competitive our wood and design industry can be on the global stage,” said one exhibitor.
In the renewable energy space, Solar, Electric, Power and Lights (SEPL) is turning heads with its groundbreaking All-Energy Electro-System.
This smart technology integrates electronics into solar power systems to improve energy generation, storage, and distribution—offering communities and businesses a more reliable and affordable clean energy solution.
The expo, which features participants from Kenya, India, and other countries, is expected to generate major commercial linkages and provide policy insights to strengthen Kenya’s trade competitiveness.
It aligns with the government’s broader industrialization goals—centered on local value addition, import substitution, and export diversification.
For many Jua Kali artisans, MSMEs, and rural innovators, the International Trade Expo 2025 offers not just market access, but a platform to be seen, heard, and supported.
“This is where innovation meets opportunity,” said Oparanya.
"It’s how we ensure that growth is inclusive and sustainable for all."
