Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has a  new courses  targeting international travel agents.

The programme which was launched in March by the country’s tourism marketer under its Magical Kenya Specialist Programme is an online training targeted at agents around the world.

According to KTB, Kenya is an key travel destination in East Africa, owing to its strategic location that offers a rich mix of diverse and memorable travel experiences all year round, for both domestic and international travelers.

The eLearning platform will equip the travel agents with knowledge on Kenya’s unique and diverse offerings.

Upon completion of the training agents will qualify as certified Kenya travel specialists and can offer their newfound expertise to their clients and grow their business through increased sales.

The new courses added to the programme, which include sustainable travel in Kenya, the magical Kenya signature experiences, demand segments, and a deep dive into the uniquely diverse Kenya territories will enable agents to effectively design their itineraries to deliver memorable experiences that last a lifetime.

Upon completion, the agents will be recognised as Gold Certified Kenya Travel Specialists.

KTB chief executive Betty Radier yesterday said the platform was one of the key projects that the organisation has undertaken to support travel agents as the world gradually opens for travel post-pandemic.

“This is an excellent way of equipping the travel trade with knowledge on the destination’s experiences and products to enable them to sell Kenya effectively to their clients,"said Radier.

She added that KTB will continue to innovate and ensure there are more effective ways of selling destination Kenya to the world.
