Mizizi Africa Homes hands over Sh 54M off-plan Penguin Estate

Real estate firm, Mizizi Africa Homes has handed-over Penguin Estate to prospective owners defying COVID-19 disruptions to deliver the project within set timelines.

The Sh54million off-plan housing units are now ready for occupation after 12 months of development.

“Focus on division of labour in a period of strict adherence to social distancing helped the company to accelerate pace of delivery,” said Mizizi Africa Finance and Operations Director, George Mburu.

Construction of the estate started in October 2019 and was projected to be completed within a period of 10-months.

With up to 20 per cent reduction in workforce availability on-site daily, it meant the project delivery time would have been impacted by a similar margin.

“We take this earliest opportunity to thank our workforce for ensuring we stay within set deadlines under a very controlled and difficult environment as we affirm to our dear customers that we are committed to keeping the promise of delivering quality and affordable housing,” said Mburu.

Penguin Estate is a 16-unit real estate development that comprises luxurious 3-bedroom bungalows selling at Sh3.2million each for cash buyers and targeted at middle income buyers.

Three-quarters of this project’s units are owned by single mothers to highlight their rising interest in buying homes.

Last year, the developer committed to redefine off-plan homes provision by staying true to its commitments with prospective homeowners including involvement of customers through the entire construction process.

Through these efforts, the company aimed at increasing homeownership through affordable and quality units, eliminating the risk of missed timelines in project completion and building customer confidence in the off-plan provision market segment.
