Embu County has erected a sanitising booth at its entry point to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The distinct cubicle has several sprayers lined up horizontally at the centre of its roof from one end to the other. It was opened by Governor Martin Wambora over the weekend.
The booth was placed at the entry point of the county with Kirinyaga county along the Kirinyaga-Embu- Chuka-Meru Highway.
The governor said everyone entering Embu through the road will have to be sanitised in the booth to kill the virus before allowing them into the county.
Wambora said the booth has the ability to sanitise 6,000 people per day.
People from places like Nairobi, Thika, Murang'a and Kirinyaga among others will pass through it to be sprayed with chlorine.
The booth was donated by Mini Bakeries Ltd, the manufacturers of Supa Loaf bread.
Wambora said the establishment of the booth is a key step towards combating the pandemic which he said has not yet affected anyone in the county which he attributed to concerted efforts by all people and protection by God.
He thanked the company for its kindness saying the county will partner with it to erect more such booths in populated institutions like the Embu Level 5 Teaching and Referral Hospital and other vital entry points to the county.
He asked the residents to continue being vigilant and obeying the government’s regulations to completely keep the virus away.
