HR exams body releases first competency-based diploma test results

A total of 16 candidates sat the exam that ran from 6th to 8th December 2023

Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board on Monday released its first-ever Competency-Based Diploma in HR Management exam results.

This was alongside its normal twice-a-year Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) exam.

The announcement happened in Nairobi, revealing that 16 candidates sat the examinations from 6th to 8th December 2023, that was administered at the Kabete Polytechnic in Nairobi.

The first-time diploma candidates completed five papers, and the course with the highest average score was principles of labor economics at 59.31 per cent.

Business communication had the lowest at 46.13 per cent.

On the flip side, human resource management achieved the highest pass rate of 93.8 per cent, whereas business communication had the lowest pass rate of 68.8 per cent.

Speaking during the ceremony, Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) acting executive director Fredrick Karani, lauded the body's milestone in making to offer the diploma course.

"The implementation of CBET diploma examinations is a significant milestone for the board and the HR Fraternity at large," Karani said.

"The competency-based diploma programs in HR will ensure individuals with varying academic performances find a place in the board's programs and they are armed with the skills, competencies and attitudes needed to thrive in today's competitive industry."

He added that the successful execution of the CBET diploma examinations reflects not only the board's unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the assessment processes but also its dedication to fostering the professional development of individuals in the field of human resources.

Also during the ceremony, the exams body released results for the regular Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) category, for November.

A total of 1,366 candidates were examined under this category's old and revised curriculum.

Male candidates were 313 (23%) while female candidates were 1,053 (77%).

The CHRP old curriculum pass rates for parts I, II, III were 87.86, 88.17, and 89.3 per cent, respectively.

On the other hand, CHRP revised curriculum pass rates for parts I, II, III were 81.2, 92.1 and 91.3 per cent, respectively.

The body while administering the November exams also offered exams to the first CHRP inaugural private candidates.

The body's CEO Nicholas Kanisa announced that the released results will be accessed via HRMPEB student portal.
