Kenya power blocks third party agents from receiving payments

Kenya Power has blocked third party agents from selling tokens or receiving any payments.

In a notice on Tuesday, the power company said payments for tokens and postpaid bills will from September 1 be restricted to only its authorized channels.

The channels are; Prepaid Channels (Tokens) M-pesa Paybill 888880, Postpaid channels (Bills) M-pesa Paybill 888888 and New connections M-Pesa Paybill 888899.

This means one will no longer be able to pay electricity bills via mobile banking.

Kenya Power warned that the company will not be held liable for any transaction conducted through other platforms.

This comes as the contracts for third party agents is set to expire today,  August 31, 2022.

Consumers have also been advised to conveniently access its services through KPLC banking halls countrywide.

Those using prepaid channels, Tokens, also have the option of paying  their bills conveniently via USSD code *997#.

“Please note that no other third-party agent is authorized to offer these services on behalf of KPLC,” Kenya Power warned.
