Nairobi United will today seek to bounce back to winning ways when they face struggling Migori Youth in a rescheduled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Super League (NSL) match.

Over the weekend, the teams recorded mixed results with Nairobi United battling to a barren draw against Mully Children’s Family (MCF) while Migori Youth suffered a 4-1 hiding against Mombasa United at Serani playground.

Nairobi United lead the second-tier log with 53 points, while Migori Youth are placed 16th on the log with 25 points from 26 games. Migori Youth have not won in five outings and have picked up only two points against the Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) and Darajani Gogo.

They lost 2-0 against Kisumu All Stars and Vihiga United, respectively, before succumbing to a 4-1 loss against Mombasa United. Nairobi United assistant coach Edwin Mwaura said they are travelling to Migori for a win.

“After the weekend draw against MCF, we are praying for a win against Migori Youth. I know it will not be easy, but our target is to get maximum points,” said Mwaura. Migori Youth coach, Sammy Otulo, said despite their struggles, they expect a positive result against Nairobi United.

“They are favourites because they are on top of the log. However, we are not pushovers. We need to win the game because we are not in a good position on the log,” he added.

As the battle for promotion intensifies, Nairobi lead the log with 53 points, followed by Administration Police Service (APS) Bomet with 52 points, who returned to winning ways following a hard-fought 3-2 win over 3K FC. Nairobi United and APS Bomet are favourites to seal automatic FKF Premier League qualification.

Kibera Black Stars and Naivas FC remain in the hunt for a relegation/promotion play-off slot. Kibera Black Stars are third with 44 points, and Naivas fourth with 43 points.

With nine games to go, SS Assad and Muhoroni Youth are staring at relegation. SS Assad are bottom of the log with 18 points, while Muhoroni Youth are 19th with 20 points.
