Kenya and National Cereals and Produce Board star Peter Omondi will hang up his boots after Sunday's epic Kenya Handball Federation league clash against Ulinzi.

The marauding left-back/left-wing yesterday said this weekend's match against the soldiers will be his last outing.

“Yes, I have decided to call it a day. That league match against Ulinzi will be my last appearance,” he offered.

It will be a fitting grand finale to a career that spans 19 years—seven with Kaloleni-based Black Mamba and the rest with the national champions.

The 33-year-old Omondi who has won both the national league and regional titles with NCPB is also a national team regular for the last 10 years.

His accolades include four league titles with NCPB, three East and Central Africa championships, and six Super Cups among several competitions.

“I have a runners-up medal with the national team won in the 2011 qualifiers, under-25 in 2007, and under-19 in 2009.”

He added: “When I join NCPB, winning was the norm but I’m happy at least now we are back where we were some years back.”

Omondi, who played all the matches in Zanzibar last December when they won the regional title has missed only two league games.

He will be out to play a key role when the millers face off against the soldiers in what is expected to be an explosive game.

“Since I joined NCPB, I have never lost a league game against Ulinzi so I hope to continue the same trend. However,  I know the game will be tough as usual,” he observed.

“A good performance and a win for the team and my fans will be enough to send me off,” Omondi said.

The reigning champions remain unbeaten in the 19-team table with 34 points from 17 matches. Ulinzi are second with 31.

He disclosed that he will not join the technical bench as a coach but does not rule out being a trainer in future.
