The General Service Unit volleyball team must overcome competition from Rwanda and Burundi to retain the East Africa Police Chief Corporation Organization title, coach Gideon Tarus has said.
The annual regional assignment serves off on Tuesday in Rwanda.
GSU won the title in 2019 when the competition was held at the Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.
The tournament has not been held for the last three years because of the covid-19 pandemic and other challenges.
Tarus, who has guided the paramilitary team to the last four titles of the Kenya Volleyball Federation League said: "We must be very careful with Burundi and Rwanda because they are our only opponents in this year's championships."
"We will have the chance to watch Burundi play on Tuesday before facing them on Wednesday. As of now, we don't have an idea of how they play but we will craft a plan on how to tackle them once we have watched them against Burundi," Tarus pointed out.
He added: "Even though the intention is to retain the title, we will have to do our best. We don't have many players, we only came with athletes who are trained officers."
