The funeral planning committee for the late Kasipul MP, Charles Were, will brief the country on the funeral arrangements at 11 am.

The committee, chaired by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma will brief the country from his Residence in Karen, Kerarapon.

The late MP was shot dead on Wednesday evening by two gunmen on a motorbike along Ngong Road near City Mortuary.

The National Police Service said the fatal shooting appears to have been both “targeted and predetermined,” raising alarm over the motive behind the brazen attack on a sitting legislator.

In a statement released by police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, the NPS confirmed that the MP was shot dead on Wednesday evening along Ngong Road near the City Mortuary roundabout by a gunman. 

Muchiri said reports confirmed by the Nairobi Regional Police Commander were that, at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a white Toyota Crown vehicle came to a stop at a red traffic light on Ngong Road, near the City Mortuary roundabout.

Kindiki takes inspection tour to Kirinyaga and Kiambu counties

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will today embark on an inspection tour of development projects in Nyandarua and Kiambu counties.

The Deputy President is expected to make several stops, including meetings with local leaders, as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to monitor and fast-track national projects.

Since taking office, Kindiki has traversed various parts of the country to assess the progress of ongoing state projects — some nearing completion and others ready for commissioning.
