KeNHA warns of falling rocks along Machakos - Kangundo Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has cautioned motorists and the public using Machakos - Kangundo Road of falling rocks at Kaloleni.

KeNHA in a statement on Tuesday said the falling debris is due to the recent heavy rains experienced in the area.

The authority said it is on the lookout to clear the debris.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority informs the public to be cautious of falling rock debris along Machakos - Kangundo Road (B105) at Kaloleni," KeNHA said in a statement.

"We advise the motorists to be vigilant while driving along this affected section of the road even as we remain on the lookout and clear debris," the authority said.

 The authority has called on all road users to adhere to and follow traffic warning signs that have been installed along the affected area.

The country has been experiencing heavy rains that have led to loss of lives and destruction of property.

The heavy rains have also rendered several roads impassable due to flash floods that have swept off sections of the roads.

According to the latest update by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, 12 more deaths have been bringing the total fatalities as a result of floods to 289.

The ministry also announced that 75 Kenyans are still missing, while another 188 have so far sustained injuries.

A total of 57,120 households have been displaced and this has directly affected approximately 285,600 people.
