Amani National Congress Party leader Issa Timamy has announced major changes in the party leadership.
In a video seen by the Star, Timamy said Vihiga County MP Beatrice Adagala is the Secretary-General in an acting capacity.
"Our former Secretary General went for CAS interviews and you are required to resign. So we had Amani Council Bureau meeting in Lamu and resolve to appoint Adagala," Timamy said.
Adagala replaces Simon Gikuru who was shortlisted for the CAS position. He has been the SG since 2021.
"We had a meeting, with our leaders and we discussed a lot about our party. As SG I'd like to say the party is firm, what was being said is not there," Adagala said.
She added that the party is conducting a nationwide recruitment of members.
"We are in Kenya Kwanza fully supporting President William Ruto. Our plan is to seek Kenyans to leave the good life," she added.
Outgoing SG Gikuru took to his Facebook, congratulating Adagala for her new appointment.
"I take this early opportunity to congratulate Adagala for her appointment as the Acting SG, As your predecessor be assured of my full support and smooth transition," Gikuru said.
This is even as Gikuru released a formal statement congratulating Stanley Khainga and Brown Ondego on their appointment by Ruto.
Gikuru released the statement two hours before it was officially confirmed that he had resigned.
