National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has dismissed the opposition’s newly formed alliance, mocking it as directionless and lacking a clear plan for Kenyans.
Speaking during an interdenominational church service in Migori County attended by President William Ruto, Junet said it was surprising that the coalition’s leaders have yet to outline what they plan to deliver to the people.
Responding to the “Ruto Must Go” slogan popularised by the group, Junet remarked that such calls have lost meaning over time.
“That slogan doesn’t need launching. You can just shout it into a microphone in Nairobi,” he said.
"We have heard it for years. They said, ‘Moi Must Go,’ when I was in primary school. We said ‘Uhuru Must Go’ until he completed his term.”
Junet also reiterated his commitment to a broad-based coalition aimed at uniting Kenyans and ensuring equitable development across all regions.
“We signed 10 agreements to bring Kenyans together, and we will stick by them,” he affirmed.
He further assured President Ruto of his unwavering support, distancing himself from critical voices within his own ODM party.
“I want to remind some ODM leaders who sometimes go overboard that there is no place for insulting the government or the president. That is their own MOU,” Junet declared.
“We know where we stand and where we are going. Let’s stay united as a country. Kenya is a multiparty democracy, and every party has its strongholds.”
Ruto is in the county on a three-day development tour.
After the church event, the president is scheduled to launch the construction of a Technical Training Institute (TTI) and unveil a Deputy County Commissioner’s office at Piny Oyie in Suna West.
He will then proceed to Kuria West to launch the Kehancha Affordable Housing Project in Kehancha Town.
On Monday, he will visit Rongo to inspect the Kosir ESP Market and unveil a building at Rongo Comprehensive School, with additional stops at Kosir and Rongo Town.
In Awendo, he is expected to launch the construction of an Animal Health Training Institute.
The President will also inspect the Uriri ESP Market and oversee the issuance of a school bus to St. Pius Uriri High School at Oria Market in North Kanyamkago. In the afternoon, he will travel to Nyatike to launch the construction of the Muhuru Bay Pier, inspect the Muhuru Modern Market, and unveil the contractor for the Muhuru-Masara Road.
On Tuesday, which is the final day, he is scheduled to inspect the Ntimaru ESP Market and the Affordable Housing Project in Ntimaru Town.
He will also preside over the issuance of a school bus to Gokeharaka Secondary School before proceeding to Narok County.
