Acting director general at the Ministry of Health Patrick Amoth has missed out among nominees for the Principal Secretary positions.
President William Ruto on Wednesday released a list of nominees to the various positions for vetting, but the icon who has stood out, especially during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic was not on the list.
The President instead nominated Peter Tum as the PS for the State Department of Medical Services and Josephine Mburu who, if approved, will be in charge of the state department of health standards and professional management.
The government in June officially advertised for the position of DG despite Amoth acting for three years.
The position was among the eight positions announced and opened for interested and qualified persons by the Public Service Commission.
That ruled out the possibility of him ever being confirmed for the position.
Amoth has served as the chairperson of the World Health Organisation executive board and played a key advisory role to the Covid-19 response team.
