Dancing, recitals ongoing at Uhuru Gardens as Kenya celebrates its 59th Mashujaa Day.

Mashujaa day is celebrated annually every October 20th. This is the day the country celebrates the struggles of its heroes.

Ahead of president William Ruto's arrival, dancers were seen shaking their bodies as they prepared for the guests.

About 22,000 are expected to attend the national fete.

Mashujaa Day, which replaced Kenyatta Day, is a public holiday to honour all Kenyans who contributed towards the struggle for Kenya's independence or positively contributed in the post-independent Kenya.
