Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has alleged that Kenya Kwanza is fighting to be the majority in order let the executive control Parliament.
Mbui said that the President William Ruto-led faction wants to gain the status in the House that directives from State House can easily see light of day.
"Kenya Kwanza is fighting to be the majority so that they can have an advantage in membership committees and have all chairs come from their coalition. They will be taking instructions directly from the State House," he said at an interview on Citizen Tv.
The MP said this will override legislator's responsibility to oversight the Executive.
"Oversight means that every member whether in Azimio or Kenya Kwanza has a role to ensure that they hold this government to account," he said.
Mbui said that there is need to free Parliament from the clutches of the Executive by ensuring they are not be part of the Executive.
"MPs must articulate issues to represent their people, and if they are going to hold brief for the executive then who will take care of those people that we are supposed to represent?" Mbui posed.
Both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio have laid claim to the leadership of the 13th Parliament with each side maintaining that it has majority membership.
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula said on Tuesday he will deliver his ruling on the matter on Thursday.
"I will consider the matter that you have prosecuted before the House and I will give you a reasoned ruling touching to the facts, the jurisprudence the constitutionality of the issue and any other matters that we conversed on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 2:30pm," he said.
Wetang'ula spoke before adjourning Tuesday's proceedings where leaders from Azimio and Kenya Kwanza battled for majority status.
