Murang’a MCAs Tuesday went on the rampage and destroyed furniture in the clerk’s office and at the reception as they complained about delayed salaries.

The MCAs were to table a motion to replace two members representing them in the County Assembly Service Board for allegedly failing to adequately fight for their interests.

But according to Nginda MCA James Mwangi, when the time came for the session to start, the two members, Ng’araria MCA Simon Wamwea and his Kimorori Wempa counterpart, Elizabeth Wambui, presented a court order stopping the ouster process.

This prompted the MCAs to go on the rampage, screaming and destroying furniture, prompting police officers to be quickly deployed to quell the chaos.

Mwangi said he was removed from the Health committee a month ago and replaced with Muthithi MCA Boniface Ng’ang’a after he challenged the duo representing them on the service board over delayed payments.

“From December, we have not been paid any salaries or allowances. Once they receive funds, it is channeled towards paying tenders,” he said.

Nominated MCA, Sharlene Wambui, asked President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to intervene in the matter.

"Our President and your deputy, you have stood against corruption for the longest time. We are inviting you to come help us fight this (delayed payment of salaries),” she said.

"We have elected Caroline Wairimu (Kigumo) and John Munyua (Gaichanjiru) to sit on the board. That is our vote,” Wambui said.
