A 40-year-old woman was found murdered in her house at Elegant estate in Bungoma town.

The body of Betty Khaemba, who worked as a hotelier in Bungoma town, was found covered with many blankets and acid spread on the body. The door to her house was left open.

Her mother Eunice Musawa on Wednesday called for investigations to bring the killer(s) of her daughter to book.

“I loved my daughter so much. Let the killers find no peace in their lives,” she said.

Musawa said she spoke with the deceased last week and agreed that she would visit home this week.

Preliminary investigations show that she was last seen on Sunday.

“The last time I saw her was on Sunday. Since that day, I haven’t seen her again. It's very unfortunate that we have found her dead in the house,” a neighbour who sought anonymity said.

Village elder Peter Okello said residents became curious after a foul smell started emanating from the house.

“I am very annoyed with the neighbours. How can someone be killed in this plot and they are unaware," he said.

Okello said the murdered woman hails from Nangwe village in Kabuchai constituency, Bungoma Central.

“The family of the deceased has come with officers from Bungoma police station to help us with investigations,” he said.

Okello said the woman was living alone.

“My daughter stays alone here in Bungoma town but I have her children at my home. She only comes to visit them then she returns to her normal hustle in town,” Musawa said.

The body was picked by police officers and taken to Bungoma county referral morgue.

Police have launched investigations into the murder.
