[PHOTOS] Destruction, vehicles submerged in Ahero as River Nyando breaks banks

A massive destruction of properties has been reported in Ahero Town after River Nyando broke its banks on Saturday.

Residents were forced to close shop and flee their homes in search of safe places to stay as the deluge made its way to the streets and residences.

The worst affected are roads, Ahero sub-county hospital and Ahero Police Station.

Pictures seen by the Star showed the floodwaters had occupied rooms at Ahero Sub-county hospitals.

At Ahero police station, structures were nearly submerged by the floodwaters.

Motorists were forced to abandon their vehicles on the roads after roads were rendered impassable.

Some vehicles were submerged while others swept by the floodwaters.
