Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua and Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni are set to convene the Limuri III Conference and make a major statement. 

The Limuru III Conference will bring together professionals and businessmen from Mt Kenya as well as religious organisations to chart the region's path.

Organisers say that at least 30 political parties from the Mt Kenya region have so far confirmed their attendance.

Karua and Kioni have maintained that the Limuru III Conference will go on as planned.

The two, who got the endorsement of the Kikuyu Council of Elders, said the conference would be issue-based and open to all attendees.

Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura is set to brief the media on the floods situation in the country, as the long rains are ongoing. 

As of May 16, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has announced that deaths, as a result of floods in the country have risen to 291.

The ministry announced that 75 Kenyans are still missing, while another 188 have so far sustained injuries.
