Former KTN News anchor Michael Oyier is dead.

Oyier died while receiving treatment at a city hospital.

According to a family friend, Oyier had collapsed in his Lavington house in Nairobi on Wednesday, April 17.

This was after he complained of severe headache.

Doctors did not explain what they had established as the cause of the headache.

A postmortem is planned to establish the cause of the death.

Oyier ventured into PR after leaving KTN.

He also played as an MC in a number of events.

Media personalities Maina Kageni and Carol Radull mourned the legendary Oyier on their social media pages.

Maina's eulogy read, "We have lost a legend. Thank you for everything Michael Oyier... one of the very best newscasters I have ever known.... a true example of commitment, discipline and encouragement!!!! Sincere condolences to the entire media fraternity and the family (Peter, Paul, Olga) and friends. Rest In Peace Michael Oyier......"

Carol for her part wrote, "Worst news ever. Former KTN and Kiss100 News presenter Michael Oyier died while receiving treatment."
