Want to submit views on Affordable Housing Regulations 2024? Here is where to do it

Written submissions can be forwarded to the PS via post office, hand delivered at Ardhi House or via email

Kenyans have until April 29 to submit their views on the draft Affordable Housing Regulations 2024.

This is after the Lands CS Alice Wahome on Tuesday invited the public to attend consultation forums organised across the country.

Wahome said the the Affordable Housing Regulations, 2024 has been finalised and posted to the State Department for Housing and Urban Development website.

Kenyans who wish to give their views on the regulations will be required to do so either through written memoranda or through in-person public participation forums.

Written submissions can be forwarded to the PS via post office, hand delivered at Ardhi House sixth floor or emailed to [email protected].

"Pursuant to sections 4 (a) and 5(3) (a) and (b) of the statutory instruments Act, 2013, the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development invites interested members of the general public to submit written comments and or inputs/ memoranda on the draft Affordable Housing Regulations, 2024 in the format provided on the website," Wahome said.

"Further, the ministry invites interested members of the public to attend public consultations from 9 am which shall be held at the venues as per the schedule set out." 

As per the schedule, the public participation forums will be held on April 23 in Machakos, Embu, Nakuru, Makueni, Baringo, Lamu, Tharaka Nithi, Narok, Kisumu and Busia counties.

In Machakos, the forums will be held at Machakos Social Hall, Talent Academy Hall in Embu, Regional Commissioner's Plenary Hall in Nakuru, Green Park, Wote Town in Makueni and Vocational Rehabilitation School, Kabrnet in Baringo.

The sessions will take place at the White House, Mokowe town in Lamu, County social hall Kathwana in Tharaka Nithi and Narok, Kisumu and Busia county commission offices.

The forums will be held in Kajiado, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Kitui, Uasin Gishu, Mombasa, Bomet, Siaya, Meru and Bungoma counties on April 24.

Residents of Kajiado, Kirinyaga, Kitui, Uasin Gishu and Bungoma will be able to submit their views at County commission offices.

Those in Nyandarua will do so at NG-CDF Hall in Ol Kalau, Ronald Ngala Social Hall in Mombasa, St Bakhita Hall in Bomet town, IEBC Hall in Siaya and North Imenti NG-CDF Hall in Meru.

On April 25, the forums will be held in Kiambu, Nyeri, Samburu, Garissa, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kilifi, Nyamira, Isiolo and Kakamega.

Kiambu residents will be have an opportunity to give their views at the Community hall in Kiambu town, NG-CDF hall Ruringu in Nyeri, Samburu, Garissa, Isiolo and Nyamira county commission offices.

In Elgeyo Marakwet, the sessions will be held at the county commissioner's compound in Iten, Kibaoni social hall in Kilifi town and Magharibi Hall in Kakamega town.

According to the schedule by the ministry, Residents of Wajir, Tana River, Kwale, Homa Bay and Vihiga will give their views on April 26.

The forums will be held at NMDA Hall Wajir town, Tana River and Kwale count commission offices, Kabunde  ND-CDF Social Hall and Vihiga county commission offices respectively.

The forums will be held on April 27 in Laikipia, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Taita Taveta, Kericho, Migori, Nandi and Marsabit.

In Laikipia, Turkana, Trans Nzoia and Nandi, the forums will be held at the county commission offices, at the county commissioner's boardroom in Kericho and Marsabit, Taita Taveta county commissioner's hall in Mwatate and Migori TTC in Migori town.

On the final day of the submissions, residents in Nairobi, Murang'a, Mandera, West Pokot and Kisii will give their views on April 29.

Those in Nairobi will do so at Utalii Hotel while those in Murang'a will go to Technology Primary School in Murang'a town.

The sessions in Mandera and West Pokot will be held at the county commission offices and Kisii  Culture Hall in Kisii town.
