Bees attack, kill child in Rarieda

A five-year-old child died after being stung by a swarm of bees in a village in Rarieda, Siaya County.

Two other children aged two and seven were admitted to Madiany Sub County Hospital with injuries following the December 9 incident.

Police said the incident happened in Kabuong C area at about midday as the children were walking home.

Several cows that had been tied in the area had to free themselves and fled after being stung by the insects.

The children were saved by other pedestrians and rushed to hospital where one succumbed, police said.

Police say they are investigating the tragedy.

The body of the child was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other probes.
